When evaluating the options, I chose to build Standd on Elixir. However, some factors to consider include the company's budget, the scale at which the company operates, and the company's tolerance for risk. There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the most important aspect of choosing a tech stack will vary depending on the needs of the company. With Standd, lawyers can quickly find the cases, statutes, and secondary sources they need, and see how their team is using information in their own work, all in a single view. We have created a platform that takes the burden off of the lawyer and turns legal research into a transparent, trusted experience. It is in this complex market and tough problem space that Standd is excited to innovate. Because of this, the feelings of information overload, lack of control and missed opportunities are only getting worse by the day. This is because the tools available for lawyers to do their work are in need of innovation and have not changed from a “workflow, first” type of experience. Research can be a painful process of opening hundreds of tabs to try and find the best version of certain sentences or the right ruling to reference to best make your point. This problem is amplified for lawyers, who must navigate petabytes worth of information to construct their case strategy and work. Or when you see your search results, you fear you are missing something and don’t see what you need or expect. But, it’s possible you don't know what you want, or even where to start. If you can formulate a search and enter it into a text box - then you have an idea of where you’d like to start. In a sea of data, it's hard to know what you are looking for or at. I am the CTO of Standd, a new startup focused on knowledge navigation and discovery, for lawyers.
